ingredients
- 4 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
- 4 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
directions
- Mix all ingredients together in small saucepan over med. heat, being careful not to burn. Bring to a boil.
- Use 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part water, mixed together to thicken the above sauce. If you want to thicken further, mix another 2 parts cornstarch to 1 part water together and add to the mixture, until you achieve the thickness of your choice. If too thick, thin mixture with a little orange juice or water.
- I don't know how many this serves.
- I just guessed. It should be enough to pour over 3 or 4 pieces of chicken, or fish.

Thanks for this easy recipe! I did not have pineapple juice so I doubled the orange juice. I was also missing corn starch. I just cooked it a bit longer to thicken and it was fine. The worchestershire sauce was a bit much for us so I will probably cut down on the amount next time, but it was wonderful as a dipping sauce for fried shrimp! Thanks again for sharing!

I have tried at least three different sweet and sour sauce recipies from this site, but this is by far the best! A definite keeper! I did not have pineapple juice but did have fresh pineapple so cut some of that up in small chunks. It was great. Got lots of compliments. People couldn't believe I made the sauce myself. I only put in 1 tbls. cornstarch. Otherwise gets too thick

Cooking is my passion, and I am slowly, but surely beginning to venture into the world of baking. To me, cooking is so much easier because baking is so much more exact.
I love to make Italian and Mexican food the best, followed by Chinese and last, but by far the least, good old American food! How can you beat chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy?? I love to find several recipes and put my own spin on them and create a new recipe.
