"Here is a recipe that was featured in an email this morning from the www.allrecipes.com website. It has gotten very high reviews. "My daughter and I came up with this recipe and it is absolutely wonderful. Several of my children who typically don't care for granola, loved it. I've tried many granola recipes and this tops them all. Enjoy!" Submitted by: annie9"

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment or aluminum foil.
  • Combine the oats, wheat germ, oat bran, sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, and walnuts in a large bowl.
  • Stir together the salt, brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, oil, cinnamon, and vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then pour over the dry ingredients, and stir to coat.
  • Spread the mixture out evenly on the baking sheets. Bake in the preheated oven until crispy and toasted, about 20 minutes. Stir once halfway through. Cool, then stir in the raisins or cranberries before storing in an airtight container.

  1. I love this recipe! I did make some changes. for 1/2 of the sunflower seeds I substituted pumpkin seeds. Since I'm not fond of raisins I used the sweetened cranberries. I substituted dried blueberries (cut), goji berries (cut) for some of the dried sweetened cranberries. I also added shredded coconut with the nuts so it could be toasted. I prefer to use canola oil to plain vegetable oil. The basic recipe is wonderful, and any favorite dried fruit can replace all or part of the raisins or dried sweetened cranberries. I do use sliced almonds instead of finely chopped almonds, just because it is simple. Thanks for sharing a great recipe. Everyone that tries it loves it. For people that are allergic to tree nuts I simply use more seeds. I had a request to use peanuts from one friend along with the seeds ( yes, they are allergic to tree nuts) Thanks again
