ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or 2 tablespoons salad oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons basil
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
directions
- In 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, in oil, cook garlic and onion until tender, 5 minutes.
- Stir in tomatoes, their liquid, and remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to low; cover; cook 20 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
