Lake Charles Dip or Salad Dressing

"This can be used as a dip or salad dressing. I like to make this in the summertime with homegrown tomatoes. From the Cotton Country Collection. Best to use regular potato chips if served as dip."

  1. What can I say? I got a copy of *Cotton Country* as a wedding present 33 years ago, and the page on which this dip recipe is printed is so soiled and smeared that I can hardly read it! Luckily, I've memorized it, and make it often in summer---but I double the veggies, and sometimes sub Greek yogurt for the sour cream. A classic, for sure! (Note: chopping a lot of fresh basil leaves does this delicious recipe no harm!)

  2. This recipe is the best. I got it from a friend years ago and we just found the actual recipe. I ajust it a little everytime, but it is a winner with everyone.

I live in south eastern Louisiana where we have the best food in the world! I've always loved to cook ever since I was a little girl and my grandmothers, Nannie and Maw Maw T, were very influential to me. I enjoy making dishes from scratch and using old fashioned recipes - it's always worth the effort. My husband & I love to barbecue several times a week since we love to be outdoors. I love to entertain friends and family on weekends.
