Great tuna salad recipe! I had to try this because of the sauerkraut, made as written and had a taste. As written it was good, but I like my tuna salad on the sweet side with pickle relish. I added about 1/3-1/2 cup of sweet pickle relish, and WOW! Used small red and yellow peppers because that's what I had, didn't want to wait until I went to the market. Even with that much pickle relish it wasn't too sweet, the sour sauerkraut and sweetness of the relish compliment each other very well. I did use the extra tuna, my cans were only 5 ounces each so I used three cans. Buttering the bread/bun does add an exta richness to the sandwich.

Yum! The only reason that I'm not giving stars is because I made too many substitutions (canned salmon for tuna, red for green bell pepper, fat free mayo, chow-chow for relish..) but, had I stuck to the recipe as written, I can't imagine anything less than five stars!! I have a grip and a half of extra sauerkraut to use (I could eat the stuff, straight .. but.), and this was PERFECT! I also just eyeballed all of the measurements, and read the previous reviews .. so mine was perfectly "kraut-y." :) Thanks for a DELICIOUS sandwich, AND wrap!

I knew I wanted to give this a try, but I had no idea what to expect. This is really good! I took the advice of another reviewer and doubled the amount of tuna, and instead of hamburger buns, I used lightly buttered hot dog buns. You know, you really don't even notice the tuna in the recipe--even when the tuna is doubled. That's kind of nice if you are like me and want to eat canned tuna often (for the omega 3). I love canned tuna, but it can get hard to find recipes that are different enough to keep it from getting boring. This one is fantastic--and you even get healthy probiotics from the kraut! Can't beat that!. I'll make this one often.

What a smashing idea! I have always loved tuna with dill pickles, so why not with sauer kraut? I used two cans of tuna because the whole thing was really krauty, but otherwise kept to the recipe. I rolled it up in a tortilla with lettuce and tomato to make a wrap sandwich and it was just sooo yummy. Thanks for a goody!
