  • Heat oven to 450.
  • Mix dry ingredients.
  • Cut shortening into flour mixture with a fork until it looks like coarse crumbs.
  • Add milk all at once and mix until moistened and dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
  • On a floured surface, gently knead dough for about 30 seconds. Roll out dough to 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness and cut using a 2 inch cutter.
  • Brush melted butter on tops of biscuits.( don't skimp on this!).
  • Bake for 11- 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve with butter and honey or jelly, or country gravy.
