- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1⁄2 cup Crisco
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cream of tartar
directions
- Cream together butter and Crisco.
- Add sugar and cream together.
- Add slightly beaten egg and vanilla.
- Mix dry ingredients then sift in a little at a time to the butter mixture.
- Roll into small balls then flatten with a moistened fork.
- Bake in a moderate oven (325) until slightly browned on a greased cookie sheet.
