Grandmothers Famous Cranberry Bread

ingredients
- 6 cups flour
- 3 cups sugar
- 4 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3⁄4 cup butter
- 3 eggs
- 3 teaspoons orange peel
- 2 1⁄4 cups orange juice
- 4 1⁄2 cups cranberries
directions
- Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda into a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Add egg, orange peel, and orange juice all at once; stir just until mixture is evenly moist. Chop cranberries Fold in cranberries to bread dough mixture.
- Spoon into a greased 9X5X3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pan; cool on a wire rack.

Even though the end-of-year holiday celebrations are over, I made this entire recipe & froze 2 loaves then gifted another one to friends who enjoy this kind of treat! As usual I was generous with the amount of orange zest, but other than that I followed the recipe & had AN EXTREMELY NICE TASTING CRANBERRY BREAD!
