Gluhwein (Hot Wine)

"A hot wine with a lot of flavor you can buy from street vendors in Germany during cold weather or at the famous Christmas markets. Very easy to make."

• Ingredients: 6
• Yields: 4 cups

ingredients

• 1 (24 ounce) bottle red wine
• 1 cup water
• 1 cinnamon stick
• 2 cloves
• 1⁄2 lemon, sliced
• 1⁄3 cup sugar

directions

1. Mix all ingredients in large pot.
2. Heat to almost boiling, but do not let it boil.
3. Serve hot.

Delicious! I made this for a dinner party on a chilly night and it was a huge hit. Added brandy makes it a little more bracing, I think.
