directions

  • Preheat oven to 350, or 325 if you have dark non-stick pan.
  • Prepare pan whichever way. ( I use butter, or even better, the spray).
  • In a bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Add the sifted flour and baking powder. Beat in eggs(one at a time). Stir in vanilla. Finally, stir in milk until batter is smooth. Bake for about 30-40 minutes, until cake springs back at touch.

  1. I was searching for a Basic White Cake recipe today because I had some coconut flakes I wanted to use up, so as I was searching online, I found this one. It was extremely easy to make and all of the ingredients I had at home. I also wanted something I could have as a dessert with my evening coffee or with my coffee in the morning. So happy I found this one. I haven’t eaten a slice yet, but I’m sure it’s delicious which is why I gave it 5 stars already. I used my coconut flakes to make a coconut frosting. Also, instead of vanilla extract in the cake batter and frosting, I substituted with coconut extract. I had a craving for a coconut cake. This is a recipe I’ve saved in my recipe box. Thank You :)

  2. Liked it so much for my daughter's 10th birthday that we made it again (only substituting Almond Extract for Vanilla) for my husband's birthday. We'll see how that turns out.

  3. BakingLuvr is right. Simple and good. That's what counts. I didn't want a recipe that was too intense. Just wanted something simple but I made a really good frosting that I knew was going to be perfect with white cake. Thank you.
