  1. I followed another reviewer's tip & substituted unsalted butter for the bacon grease, & also used almost half a cup of Hormel's Real Bacon Pieces instead of the 3 slices of bacon! Also let the once-kneaded dough rise again in the loaf pan before baking it! Wonderfully delicious bread that was served along with the pork & bean soup I'd made! Thanks for this great bread recipe keeper! [Made & reviewed in 1-2-3 Hits recipe tag]

  2. This was just excellent. After the first rise, I placed it in my bread pan and allowed it to rise again. As instructed in this recipe, it appears that you just put it in the oven at that point. I'm sure that is not what is meant. I loved the taste of the bacon in this bread. Just excellent.

  3. This bread is wonderful, although I did increase all ingredients, I only used one egg and subbed butter for the bacon grease, I also increased the yeast to 1 tablespoon, I made this on my Kitchen Aid stand mixer and baked it in an 8 x 4-inch bread loaf pan. Thanks dee!...Kitten:)

  4. Usually I'm not very good at baking bread, but this recipe turned out very well for me. We loved the addition of the bacon! I think this would be great to serve with a bowl of soup. Thanks for sharing!
