- 1 3⁄4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 eggs
- 1 3⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1 (11 1/2 ounce) package chocolate chips, divided
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
directions
- Combine water and oats in a bowl and let stand for 10 minutes.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugars.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
- Beat in oat mixture.
- Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt together and gradually add to creamed mixture.
- Stir in 1 cup chips.
- Pour into greased 13" X 9" X 2" baking pan and sprinkle with walnuts and remaining chips.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool on wire rack.
