Chocolate Chip Pound Cake Squares

"A dessert that is reminiscent of old-fashioned pound cake with a sauce that is a chocolate dream. From Land-O-Lakes Cookbook."

ingredients

• Cake

• 1 cup sugar
• 2⁄3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine, softened
• 3 eggs
• 1 1⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1⁄2 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
• 1 tablespoon vanilla

• Sauce

• 1 cup semisweet mini chocolate chips
• 1⁄2 cup whipping cream

directions

1. heat oven to 350*F.
2. in large mixer bowl combine sugar and butter. beat at low speed, scraping bowl often until light and fluffy. continue beating, adding eggs one at a time, until creamy.
3. by hand fold in remaining cake ingredients.
4. pour into greased 9"sq baking pan.
5. bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, remove from oven and set aside.
6. in 1 qt saucepan place 1 cup chocolate chips and whipping cream. cook over low heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted.
7. serve sauce over squares.

Lovely and moist !! I used white choc chips and did not make the sauce as the cake is for the lunch boxes. Very quick to whip up too !!
