- 2⁄3 cup shortening
- 2⁄3 cup butter, cold
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
directions
- Mix the shortening with the butter in your mixer. Don't mix it too well, you don't want a perfectly consistent texture.
- Add the 2 sugars and mix.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and mix.
- Add 2 cups of the flour, retaining the other cup to mix the salt and baking soda.
- Add the last cup of flour, mix well.
- Add the chocolate chips, mix well.
- Drop by heaping tablespoon onto a cookie sheet.
- Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 7.5 to 8.5 minutes. They are done when the tops have light brown tips on the peaks.
- Remove from the oven and let them sit on the baking sheet for five minutes, remove and place on wax paper that is sitting on your counter, or a cooling rack.
