  • Saute onions and set aside.
  • Saute mushrooms briefly and set aside.
  • Combine flour pepper salt in a plastic bag.
  • Add beef chunks and shake bag until beef has a flour coating.
  • Remove beef and shake off excess flour.
  • Brown the beef in butter and oil mixture in small batches until slightly crispy.
  • Place the browned beef in a ovenproof casserole dish and add sauteed onions.
  • Combine the following ingredients and stir into the casserole.
  • wine, stock, herbs, mustard tomato puree and a pinch of sugar.Add a little extra boiling water to the casserole to barely cover the food.
  • Bake in 160c oven for 1hr 15min. Add the musfhrooms and continue to bake for another 30 minute.
