I know they're supposed to be fluffy but how do you get them a bit denser, you know, like Jamaican-style? (I'm trying to use up some leftover buttermilk)

What if I am doing a rotisserie chicken. Should I just boil dumplings in store bought chicken broth.?

These dumplings are truly the finest I have ever eaten in my 65 years. No other dumpling has ever come close to the quality of this dumpling. My only regret is it took me too many years to find the PERFECT dumpling!

I've been making stew and dumplings for many years as it's one of my husband's favourite meals. He wasn't happy when I said I was going to try a new dumpling recipe tonight. I'm tossing my old recipe and using this one from now on. Even after I accidently put twice the melted butter the recipe called for and my Instant Pot wouldn't come to pressure and I had to cook them by quests and golly these still turned out beautifully. They were fluffy and light and delicious. Other than my two errors and my addition of some parsley flakes I made these exactly as directed. It's a keeper.

I made these dumplings tonight for my chicken and dumplings recipe. They were perfect. I will only use this recipe from now on! Light, fluffy perfection

PERFECT dumplings to go with a beef stew! They were soft and fluffy and not a bit gummy.
I added some parsley but otherwise fillowed to a T.
(I made my own buttermilk using 2% and lemon juice)

Thanks Linda!

At last a truly fluffy, delicious dumpling. I added a pinch of parsley and oregano; however, I would rate this recipe higher if I could just due to the texture alone. They floated on top, never sank, and were just perfect.

Fluffy and delicious with only 2 T butter. Added 2 extra T buttermilk.
