I won't rate this as I haven't tried it yet so it wouldn't be fair to give it any stars, but I really like the sound of recipe 2. I think I would much prefer that one over the "bought" one touted by Ms.P. When the list of ingredients has only 5 ingredients in it and the main one is salt, I try to avoid that product. Also, although I'm sure the dioxide and silicon dioxcide chemicals listed in Ms.P's favorite brand is delicious, since I have no idea what it is, I think I'll stick with your recipe, Kitten. By the number of five-star recipes you have shared with us, I know you won't steer me wrong. Thanks for sharing this one with us, too.

I just bought some Beau Monde Seasoning - made by Spice Islands - at the store today and the listed ingredients are "salt, dextrose, onion, celery seed, and silicon dioxide". No mention of any bay leaf, pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, mace or cloves. Also the label does not state that any other ingredients are contained in the blend. So, I don't know where people are coming up with these weird recipes for Beau Monde. Here's a link to their website where you can read about it and order it if your local store doesn't carry it: www.spiceadvice.com
