Awesome Chocolate Chip Cookies

"I've been using this recipe for years--it's the best I have found! I got it out of a Taste of Home magazine and modified it a little...putting it here for safekeeping."

• Yields: 24-30 cookies

ingredients

• 1⁄3 cup butter, softened
• 2⁄3 cup shortening (I use butter-flavored Crisco or margarine)
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 3 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
3. Combine the flour, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
4. Stir in chocolate chips.
5. Drop by 2" cookie scoop onto ungreased baking sheets.
6. Bake at 350° for 10-11 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Remove from pans to cool on wire racks.
