Strawberry Apple Smoothie

"My kids love smoothies for breakfast and we are coming up with a few different varieties. This one is our latest creation. You can't really taste the apple - but the main thing for me is that it is there in form of nutrition. Smoothies can be a a wonderful wholesome breakfast with lots of vitamins, calcium and fiber. I always add ground flax seed for the omega benefit, it has no flavour and can be used in all foods. I usually do not measure ingrediients in smoothies and you should add milk according to your own preferences for thickness."

  1. Made for a great start to the day..other than omitting the honey, this made for a nice soothing smoothie, Made for Holiday tag.

  3. We enjoy smoothies anytime of the year & this one was especially appropriate since I'd just purchased a bag of large Honey Crisp apples (for making some apple sauce) I used one of those here & it worked great! I used a bit more frozen strawberries than was called for, but that helped thicken it all up, which is what we like! I'll be keeping the recipe for this great smoothie on hand, for sure! 4. Mmmm! This was my breakfast today. I did half and didn't bother to peel the apple. I used strawberry yogurt and more milk cause I don't like very thick smoothies. I know my kids will enjoy this one :) Thank you very much for sharing. Made for the Zwizzle Chicks, ZWT6 Germany/Benelux.

  5. My kids are nuts about smoothie (and mom secretly drinks what's left in the blender) and I'm glad I tried this one. Used light greek yoghurt with a dash of vanilla extract and thyme honey. Deiicious.

Tweaks

  1. This was delicious! I know some people hate when others modify then review the recipe, but it's only to show that there can be variations that may work better for some depending on dietary needs! I did use water instead of milk, and truthfully we've done this in many smoothies before with no noticeable difference in taste. Also, we used plain non-fat Greek yogurt, and did add some more honey than was required by the recipe in order to compensate for that. Other than that we made it as is. It was delicious! I will also add some oatmeal to it if I want to make it one morning for a hearty breakfast smoothie. Thanks for posting it!
