  • 3 cups lye
  • 2 12 pints distilled water
  • 6 lbs white lard
  • 1 cup lotion, of your choice (optional)

directions

  • Stir it up until blended, then pour into flat box with sides about 3 inches high. Line box with waxed paper and pour in soap.
  • Let harden a week or more.

  1. This recipe should include a caution on using lye. Lye is extremely caustic and the fumes are also harmful. So before you try this you should make yourself familar with the proper use of lye.
     
  2. Using lard only when making soap doesn't give the best cleansing properties. Please go to soapcalc.net to calculate a recipe for the ingredients that you have on hand. Remember to add a little coconut oil for hardness and lather, but don't overdo it.
