Cool Weather Cornmeal Crunch Suet Cakes for the Birds

Recipe #3 of suet recipes I have handwritten from somewhere at sometime. I'm sorry I cannot remember where I found these recipes. I use this particular recipe only in cold weather as the lard will break down otherwise and all you'll have is a mess.

• Cook Time: 1 hrs

Ingredients:

Serves: 8

Yield: 8.0 suet ca ...

• 2 cups lard (or rendered fat)
• 1 ½ cups chunky peanut butter
• 2 cups cornmeal

Directions:

1. Combine lard and peanut butter in a large saucepan and cook over low heat until melted.
2. Add cornmeal and mix well.
3. Pour into suet molds or a bread pan.
4. Chill until mixture is firm.
5. If using bread pan, slice into the thickness that will fit your suet feeder.
