This basic recipe (sans Worcestershire sauce) has been in my family for decades. I've been making it going on 60 years. It's highly addictive! I've never heard of anyone else knowing about this before. I always guess on the Miracle Whip, that's what prompted me to look for a recipe (again!) Thanks for posting this.

I split this recipe in half and made one half with miracle whip and 1/2 with mayo. I’m not a fan of miracle whip but per your recommendation I thought I’d give it a try. Unfortunately as expected, I did not like the miracle whip dip version. However the Mayo one brought a tear to my eye and not because of the onions. It tasted exactly like the version my dad always made when I was a kid. Later in life he told us he got the recipe off a box of Jays Potato chips. Nonetheless it is delicious and thank you for posting it.
