Strawberry Julius

"This is one of my kids favorites. It gets them to drink their milk and they get a fruit too! Plus it is so quick and easy."

  • Place all ingredients into a blender and mix until well blended. Serve in a tall glass with a straw.
  • Sometimes I will add orange slices, bananas, or blueberries if I have some extras needing to be eaten. I also have made it a bit more like a smoothie by substituting 1 cup vanilla yogurt for one cup of milk. I have also used Splenda in place of the sugar with success.

I whipped this out tonight and my teen thought it was the best smoothie he has ever had and even asked me for the recipe...that's a first. The only change I made was I used frozen strawberries and eliminated the ice.

Very tasty drink. Better than the best strawberry smoothie, which I'll make this again. Thanks for sharing your recipe, MomaWeb5ter. Made for Spring 2011 Pick-A-Chef.

High fives from the munchkins. My son said he liked this better than the shakes I make with ice cream, which is great news because I don't always have ice cream on hand but I always have milk and ice cubes! Thx MommaW! Made for Spring Pick A Chef 2011

I made this last night to go with French toast and we liked it a lot. I used fresh strawberries and I also made one using fresh peaches as my boys don't like strawberries. They were both a hit. I think next time I might add a little vanilla.

So easy to make and tastes just like the ones from Orange Julius! Thanks for the recipe!

I am the mother of four young kids. Prior to children I was a special education teacher and after a few years of teaching post children I wanted to stay home. I became an in-home child care provider. It is a great job. I can be home with my young children, be at home afterschool for my older children and work out a schedule that fits my families needs. I also still get to teach which is a passion of mine but not have to worry about handing in lesson plans. I get to see young kids learn all the time. As a childcare provider I do not always get a lot of time to cook. I like meals that are uncomplicated. I love to find foods that my husband or my kids really like. I also like to try recipes that have ingredients that my family doesn't love in hopes that I will find the recipe that will help them enjoy their vegetables or whole grains.
