1 Jar
ingredients
- 1 clear plastic jar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1⁄2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- lemon juice (optional)
- scented essential oil (optional)
directions
- mix the sugar and olive oil in the plastic container. I do not recomend using a glass jar for this, since you will most likely have this in your bathroom.
- add any optional scents you like. I have discovered that adding peppermint oil or orange oil helps refresh you, while lavender is more soothing. My favorite oil to use is sandlewood.
- to use: place some on a wash cloth and rub in circles anywhere you need exfoliation. After letting it sit for awhile the sugar may settle to the bottom, so it may be necessary to shake this up a little before using.

This is a great, simple and inexpensive way to treat yourself special (or your sister, mother, friends, etc...) I add different scented essential oils I buy with coupons from MIchael's, and use the clearest extra virgin olive oil I can find, to avoid that greenish color. I also use only about 1/3 cup oil to the one cup sugar...I find a half cup makes it a little too liquidy for my personal preferences.

I give this 5 stars. I wanted to exfoliate before using a self tanner and I hate spending so much money on the scrubs sold in stores. This was cheap to put together and worked great on my skin, it feels so soft. I did skip the lemon, but used a couple drops of vanilla oil I happened to have. Thanks for posting this!

Awesome recipe! I just needed to treat my hands like a lady:), and this was just perfect with all the ingredients available at home, costing just few pennies, involving the least time possible and providing the finest result! I used the juice of 4 limes as a substitute instead of lemons. I made this in 2 batches: one with the lime juice and 1 without. Both are simply marvellous on my sensitive skin. This is a wonderful recipe. Note: You can also use table salt instead of sugar and make this. It gives good results and is something I have been doing for a very long time now:) Thanks a bunch for the recipe!
