Wow, nearly 9 years later and I pulled this recipe out of my collection to make for my Mom's 91st birthday. I'm so glad I did. I made both the cake layers (two 8" cake layers) and the frosting the week before I was going to serve them and I froze both cake layers and frosting. The night before I was going to serve the cake, I put the cake layers and frosting in the refrigerator to thaw. The next morning the cake layers were nice and moist. The frosting just needed to be stirred up with a spoon to get it back to a smooth consistency. Rave reviews from everyone. I recommend you save this recipe to your recipe collection, also. original review written on 9/6/2009 This was served to rave reviews at a birthday party today. I followed the instructions exactly, including using Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Classic White. I baked it in two 8" round cake pans. On Kittencal's suggestion, I paired it with recipe #90142. It was perfect. I was proud to serve this cake and will make it again.
