- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil, separated
- 27 ounces frozen hash browns, thawed
- 1⁄2 teaspoon seasoning salt (optional)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper, separated
- 1⁄2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons minced onions or 1/2 of a fresh onion
- 3 ounces bacon, crumbles
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1⁄2 cups beef gravy
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, separated
directions
- Heat 12" skillet to medium high, then add 3 T of the oil.
- Add hashbrowns, 1/2 t of black pepper, garlic powder, & (optional) seasoned salt. Cook until browned, 10-15 minutes. Put into a greased 9 x 9 casserole pan.
- Add final tablespoon of vegetable oil to skillet; cook hamburger & onions. When meat is about cooked through, add bacon. When ground beef is cooked, drain well & add Worcestershire sauce.
- Reduce heat to medium & add brown gravy. Simmer for 5 minutes, then fold in 1 cup of cheddar cheese. When melted, add to casserole pan.
- Top with remaining cup of cheddar cheese & cook in a preheated 375-degree oven for 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly & cheese is melted.
- Let stand 5-10 minutes.
