3 1/2 dozen
- Serves:

ingredients
- 2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup butter, at room temperature (1 stick)
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 2⁄3 cup sugar
- 2⁄3 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 (12 ounce) bag chocolate chips
directions
- In a medium bowl, stir flour with baking soda and salt; set aside.
- In large mixing bowl, cream butter and shortening with sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Gradually blend dry mixture into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop by tablespoon (I use a cookie scoop) onto parchment-lined cookie sheets.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes (I bake for 10 to start, and as the last few sheets go in, I lessen it to 9 1/2 minutes. I would say if you're going to bake them for 9, let them cool for longer on the cookie sheet before removing them to the wire rack).
- Cool completely on a wire rack before storing in an airtight container.
- To make bar cookies, pat the dough down into a 9x13 pan, and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.

Delicious and very chewy indeed! I live at high altitude and have had mixed success with baking chewy cookies. Usually they are harder than I would prefer, so this recipe caught my eye. I made these into bars instead of cookies because I was feeling lazy, and they were a hit with my family. Thanks Greeny for a keeper! Made for Newest Zaar tag.

I am an active lady, and I am not the top chef in the world, but I can hold my own. I love making things that remind me of when I was little, I love trying out new recipes, and I love learning new things to cook. Most of the recipes I post are recipes I loved that I found online, but that I have tweaked just a bit. I do have some family recipes on here too. I love to bake, probably more than anything else in the kitchen. I love to bike ride. I like to read, travel, kayak (I've only been twice, but I loved it), hike, camp, basically any outdoorsy/active stuff.?
