For your Westeros-worthy cocktail, you'll need pomegranate juice, gin, mead, sugar, water, an orange and some fresh thyme. Have your cocktail shaker handy, as well as a short glass.
To sweeten the cocktail, you'll need simple syrup. Store-bought simple syrup works, but it's easy to make your own. Just combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a small saucepan and set it over medium heat. Bring it to a simmer and cook until all of the sugar has dissolved. Remove it from the heat and let it cool completely.
Once your syrup has cooled to room temperature, store it in an airtight container. This will make about 3/4 cup, or enough for about 6 cocktails. If you don't use it all, it'll last in the fridge for about a month.
Grab your cocktail shaker and fill it with ice.
Into the shaker, add 4 ounces of your favorite pomegranate juice.
Add 1 1/2 ounces of gin.
Add 1 ounce of mead. You can find mead near the beer and cider at your local liquor store or online.
Add 1 ounce of your simple syrup.
Shake vigorously until the mixture is well chilled.
Strain the cocktail into a short glass for serving.
Garnish your cocktail with an orange wheel and a sprig of fresh thyme.
