Zesty Steamed Cauliflower

"I received this recipe in on of my daily e-mails from our local vegetable producer. I made it for a big group and it was so yummy that I had to share it. It has the cheesiness that most enjoy on cauliflower but with a bit of kick too."

  1. I love cauliflower! This was tasty, but I thought there was too much mayo. Next time I'll cut back. I also added some Parmesan cheese, and a dash of cayenne.

  2. I thought that this recipe sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately, I thought the final product was just ok. I followed the recipe as directed. I did get a better taste after I added some salt and pepper. Sorry I didn't like it better.

  3. A great idea! I used extra sharp cheddar cheese, and only 3/4 of mayo. I steamed the cauliflower for about 15 minutes in the microwave and only about 7 minutes more to heat the cheese. It didn't get nicely browned, but it kept the kitchen cool!

  4. This was my first attempt at making a whole cauliflower without chopping it up first. I think I may have steamed it too long as I found it too mushy texture wise and I had a bit of trouble getting it out of the pot without it smushing. The flavour was delicious and I only wish the rest of my family enjoyed cauliflower so I could make this again soon. Thanks for posting.

  5. I'm not a big cauliflower fan, but this was WONDERFUL. My son even loved it! It would make a good alternative to a potato dish; it is similar to potatoes au gratin in flavor and consistency.

I completed my Doula training in fall of 2004 and had the opportunity to attend a few other births. I really enjoy attending births and assisting women during this amazing time.I have expanded on my doula work by working privately for a family post-partum, 2 days a week. This keeps me busy, but I know that this is not my forever job. However now that my kids are both in school, I have started to think about "what I want to be when I grow up!!"
