Probably no mixed drink recipe has been as mistreated by bartenders as this one. This is a delicious adaptation of the original Singapore Sling recipe from Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Use the highest quality liquor available.
- 6 tablespoons pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons gin
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1 tablespoon cherry heering
- 1 tablespoon grenadine
- 1⁄2 tablespoon benedictine
- 2 dashes triple sec or 2 dashes Grand Marnier
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- Fill a shaker with ice.
- Add ingredients to shaker and shake for about 1 minute. Strain over ice into a tall glass.
One lady wrote hers didn't turn out as red as in the picture, but I was lucky enough to have one of these at the Raffles Hotel Long Bar a few months ago and took a picture of it and after making this recipe, the lighter color I made at home matched up with the color of the real thing in my photo. So not sure how the one on this website turned so red. Also, the conversion rate for the gin is wrong according to both here and on the Raffles Menu. It should be 1 oz. of gin, not 1-1/2 oz. But either way, good stuff! I'm not much of a drinker and only had one of the real deals because the rest of the group was and decided when in Rome... (Or Singapore!) and boy, did I love it! I couldn't taste the alcohol so to me it's pretty good. Not sure what brand gin they use in the original and since I'm not much of a drinker I didn't know what to buy so just picked one. Not sure if that makes a difference or not?
anyone else find that much heering cherry liquer ruins the color and turns it brownish?
It was the best Singapore Sling. I used cherry brandy. It drinks like a regular juice. So easy loll I was able to double the recipe in a shaker. I garnished with a cherry. Made for ZWT 3
