"Them's the biscuits served at America's most popular stop for breakfast, partners - simple to make and gosh darn tasty. Get yourself some Bisquick and buttermilk and crank up the oven for a clone that's become one very frequent request."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Combine the baking mix, buttermilk, sugar, salt, and half of the melted margarine in a medium bowl. Mix until well blended.
  • Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 30 seconds, or until dough becomes elastic.
  • Roll dough to about 3/4-inch thick and punch out biscuits using a 3-inch cutter. Arrange the punched-out dough on an ungreased baking sheet, and bake for 10 to12 minutes or until the biscuits are golden on top and have doubled in height.
  • Remove the biscuits from the oven and immediately brush each one with a light coating of the remaining melted margarine. Serve warm.

  1. Finally, a way to disguise bisquick. They were not as good as home made biscuits, but they were a lot better than regular biscuit mix biscuits. Thanks for posting.

  2. This was awesome and super quick to put together. I was looking for something similar to the crescent roll for pigs in a blanket and was thinking that homemade bisquick would not do. This was exactly what I wanted and the extra biscuit I made for me was yummy! Super easy with all ingredients on hand!!

  3. This is a GREAT biscuit recipe!!! Wouldn't change a thing; I used butter instead of margarine because I don't use margarine. Tasted better than McDonald's; this will be my go to biscuit recipe from now on. Thank you for an easy and good tasting recipe.

Tweaks

  1. I added 1/2 stick grated cold butter and it helped. Also, when using your biscuit cutter do not twist. Simply, cut the biscuit and draw the cutter straight up! Increased sugar to 2 Tablespoons as well. I froze them after making them and then baked them at 400 for 20 minutes.

I cook non-restricted meals often as my husband can eat whatever he wants and I love to cook for him. But, once a week, I make him something "interesting" and healthy and he has to at least try it. So far, it's been a big hit.
