Butter Pecan Cake Brownies

"These are easy and delicious. I have had this recipe for years and not made them very often, but someone brought them to my Mom's on Christmas Eve and everyone went nuts over them. My husband and mother-in-law asked me to get the recipe, I told them I had it already and they wanted to know why I had not made them any before! So, now I am in trouble (lol) and I have to make them!"

  • Preheat oven to 300°.
  • Mix first three ingredients and press into a 9 x 13" pan.
  • Mix confectioners' sugar, melted butter eggs and cream cheese together, pour on bottom layer.
  • Sprinkle with pecan chips.
  • Bake for 55 minutes or until cake tests done.
  • Cut into bars when cool.

  1. Very good and very rich. I took this to a party today and had several requests for the recipe. I did grease my pan and used my hand mixer on low for topping mixture. It took an extra 15 minutes in the oven and still was a bit undone in the middle but had to leave for party. I figured it would keep cooking after removal and harden more when cooling. Next time I might bake mine at 325 degrees. Thanks for sharing Nane.
     
  2. Prepared the cake brownie as is. First I buttered my pan, made the batter as directed then cooked at 340F for one hour. Voilà! A delicious sweet treat. It was all eaten at a potluck of 12 people.
     
  3. Maybe I didn't cook them on a high enough degrees (300) but even after an hour, it was still quite soft, gooey. The sides and top was done...is this the consistency they are supposed to have or is it supposed to be like a cake?
