I stumbled upon this recipe a few mths ago & have made oodles of variations..Replacing bourbon with Southern Comfort, Cherry Vodka, Dr. Pepper, Cherry Cola, White Grape Juice Pretty much whatever liquor/soda/juice I already had in cabinet or fridge! I've always made homemade meatballs when making this recipe. I imagine frozen would taste great too! It's just your personal preference..That's what I love about sharing recipes back & forth..It allows each & e'ry one of us to experiment & tweak ingredients & preparation to suit our lifestyles & tastebuds! Thanks again for sharing this recipe! It DEFINITELY will ALWAYS be one of my top "Go-to" recipes for numerous reasons!

I have been cooking these for years with 7-up or Sprite instead of the bourbon. I increase liquid to 1 cup also. As for why you cook meatballs that long even though they are already cooked is that the meatball absorbs the flavor and thickens the sauce, mingles or marries the flavors. My family asks for them on special occasions all the time. It is a favorite for holiday parties. I am definitely trying the bourbon.

These days, I am trying to eat a lot less meat. So, I am trying to have as many vegetarian recipes in the week as I can manage. I have started a blog - Weekend Carnivore where I blog about trying to eat a mostly vegetarian diet. I share a lot of my discovered recipes there. If I make one of your vegetarian recipes and I managed to take a good photo of it, chances are I will blog about it and tell everybody how much I enjoyed it.
