My daughter also brought home this recipe from her 2nd grade teacher (Illinois) and we thought we would give them a try at our bake sale for Relay for Life. They are like Choc. Chip Cookies in a bar shape. We used Mini Choc. Chips and added an extra cup, making it 2 cups of choc. chips. The kids loved the mini chips. Also, I would recommend mixing the dry mixture into a separate bowl and then adding them in, instead of one at a time. Otherwise, the "dough" gets thicker and harder to mix and distribute evenly. We baked at 350 for 35 min.

My son brought this very recipe home in his second grade reading book. The story was "Jalepeno Bagels" and the recipe is from the Mexican-Jewish-American bakery Los Bagels Bakery in Arcata CA. It's rather like toll house chocolate chip cookies in a bar. Very good. "Cream the brown sugar and eggs" is a little vague, I mixed until it was like cake batter. In my oven 45 minutes seemed a bit over done, drier than I would have liked, I'll check at 35 next time.
