In the far north, the winters are long and the mind gets weary if a person doesn't have something to do. I love to cook! My mom is who got it all started by "forcing" me to cook as a young kid. When our little town in Moorpark California, where everybody knew everybody, began to grow out of proportion, she decided it was time to publish a cookbook with recipes from all the "pioneers", or the original folks who got the town started. That's when I got my start, and became interested in cooking and baking. I had real fun making various recipes she gathered from people--there's still a part of old Moorpark left proudly standing in the "Moorpark Family Cookbook". I also love martial arts, hunting, fishing and exploreing the wild country here in Alaska. Hunting for relics and sniping tailing piles for nuggets with my metal detector is also a great past-time. I am also into showing Great Danes and often travel all over the state to go to dog shows. I have to sell lots of real estate to be able to keep up with my dogs' eating habits! It is true that cats rule the house, and dogs rule your life! My dogs think they are human and they feel that they need to be with me every minute of every day. If I had a month off with no responsibilities, I would spend it in the back country enjoying the clean air and the fresh fish from a cold mountain lake.
