I've loved cooking as long as I remember. If I have a day free, I'll often spend most of it in the kitchen. Professionally, I worked doing counter service at various cafes & delis, and had a 6 year stint as a line & prep cook at an Irish pub in Louisville, KY. I have a cooking blog, but I don't update it too often. Now I'm living in Japan, where I take advantage of my seaside & rural location by eating as much fresh, seasonal seafood & produce as possible. Soy is big in Japan, and I eat loads of tofu, soymilk, & miso as well as whole beans. I love to experiment with new ingredients & techniques as much as possible. My diet is very plant-based, for healh reasons and in an effort to promote sustainable agriculture. In general, I don't eat dairy, eggs, or meat; however, in my travels I often encounter new or special dishes with these ingredients, and I have no problems partaking in those kinds of situations. My mostly veganism (for lack of a better term) is not a dogma for me, and I'm not interested in debating it. I'm trying to work on my baking skills now. I'm getting pretty good at vegan baking, but I still make mistakes.
