I hadn't really started cooking from scratch until this past Summer ('08). I really enjoy experimental cooking: me taking a recipe (as a baseline) and throwing ingredients together that I have around the house or in the fridge that seem like they would make a good combination. Of course you do get those one-time recipes that you will Never make again (the same way at least) because it was Just NOT Right. On the other hand, you can end up with ones that you want to make every week!
