I live in a beautiful pocket of the world - the Barossa Valley in South Australia. This region is best know for robust and complex red wines and the delicious foods to go with it! My interest in food and experimental cooking is quite new... I've discovered how much joy I get from thinking about and preparing food. Partly I think this came from travelling abroad and really experiencing flavours and textures outside of my comfort zone. Now I approach the same familiar ingredients with a sense of mischief and interest... what can I try with this?! And partly I think it comes from having moved out of home and having a little more freedom in the kitchen. My favourite cookbooks are those that don't just list recipes but also give suggestions for what might go together and seasonal cooking... Things like: Stephanie Alexander: "The Cook's Companion" (1996), Maggie Beer: "Maggie's Harvest" (2008) and, a bible of my mothers kitchen is Peter Pring - "Golden Recipes".
