ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups skim milk
- 3 eggs, seperated
- 4 tablespoons shortening, melted
directions
- Mix and sift dry ingredients.
- Add milk gradually with beaten egg yolks.
- Add melted shortening.
- Cut and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Grease hot waffle iron. Brown. Serve and Enjoy!

I love waffles and really enjoyed these the other morning!! They had a great flavor, texture and worked well in the waffle iron. I made these as written but next time wouldn't bother with separating the whites out and then whipping them and folding them into the batter, as I don't really notice a difference(except more work & dishes) in these waffles compared to ones just adding the whole egg and mixing. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Made for Spring PAC 2014.

I just recieved a waffle iron for christmas, I'm not a fancy breakfast person, and so this is the first recipe I've tried, it turned out beautiful, I quickly melted some frozen store bought berries in a saucepan, and added a bit of sugar to them to make a syrup for the waffles, my whole family enjoyed!
