New Oreo Flavors Hit Shelves & Cherry Cola Has Us Curious
Which would you vote for?

What do you get when you crowdsource new flavors for one of America’s most iconic cookies? Some pretty weird stuff, that’s what.
When Oreo launched a massive contest last year in the hunt for a new cookie flavor, it was forced to turn down such gems as avocado-flavored Oreos and unicorn-flavored Oreos. Instead, it selected three creative flavors with pure potential, which hit shelves on Monday.
While movie snackers undoubtedly rejoiced at the release of Cherry Cola Oreos and Kettle Corn Oreos, beach bums might have been more inclined to go with Piña Colada Oreo Thins. In the “My Oreo Creation” Contest, however, there can only be one. Fans can now vote for their favorites until June 30th.
With such high stakes, the creative minds behind these flavor submissions merit quite the reward. Does $500,000 sound like enough? Oh yes, the contest winner will be granted half a million dollars for their hard work.
But the prizes aren’t only for the flavor geniuses; voters stand to win a whole boatload of entertainment prizes too. Sixty-two grand prize winners will get a prize pack, complete with a projector, portable screen, picnic blanket and Fandango movie passes. Six thousand five hundred other prize winners will get $6 Fandango promo codes.
"We were blown away by not only the volume of flavor ideas we received as part of our #MyOreoCreation Contest, but also by the creativity and imagination of our fans," said Pam Clarkson, associate director of North American Oreo Equity, in a release. "We can't wait for people to try [the three new cookies] and let us know which they think should be the winning flavor!"
So if you’ve been craving something new in the world of cookies, try these cookies and let your tongue be the judge and jury. Who knows how long they’ll stick around for.
