While all-night countdown celebrations are usually reserved for New Year’s Eve, Kellogg’s took a stand this year in an effort to celebrate a lesser holiday—National Cereal Day—by staying up all night, waiting for the bowl to drop.

The brand welcomed its most loyal cereal supporters to an invite-only event on Wednesday, dubbed National Cereal Day Eve, at the Kellogg’s NYC Café to partake in the communion that is cereal and milk in a bowl. Attendees were also graced with a performance from “cereal lover” Hailee Steinfeld—the musician and actor, nominated for an Oscar for her performance in the Coen brothers film True Grit—and a selection of cereal-themed food and drink.

While DJ Flipside played some flippantly funky tunes in the background, partygoers noshed on a selection of creative cereal combinations from a liquid nitrogen cereal bar that served flavored milks, champagne gummy bears, confetti-filled Rice Krispies treats and more.

On the savory side, nibbles included ham and cheese croquettes made with Apple Jacks cereal, falafel sliders featuring Special K cereal, and shrimp coated with Rice Krispies.

For cocktails, the flavor profile stayed on the sweet and cereal-y side, with a fizzy Froot Loops cocktail and Cocoa Krispies chocolate milk with vodka.

At midnight, a big ol’ disco ball filled with giant cereal bits lit up to signal the arrival of cereal’s most sacred day.

Kellogg’s celebrations continue today at the NYC Café at Union Square. If you’re not feeling like braving the snow that’s currently being dumped from the heavens by the Nor’easter (‘sup Quinn), you can find the recipes for all of the National Cereal Day treats online.
