On average, that is.

With the debate raging over fair wages for fast food workers, one group of employees is laughing its way to the bank. If you knew that you could make nearly as much as a physician while working in a burger joint, would you change your career?

If so, start packing, because you’re headed for the West Coast (or Texas), where the sun sets over the Pacific, and where managers at In-N-Out Burger make an average salary of $160,000 per year.

Yeah, you read that correctly. The scoop came from the California Sun, which first reported on the company’s data, setting the internet (and everyone who makes less than $160,000 per year) into a frenzy.

The company is known for treating employees well, giving them a benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) contributions and paid vacation. All employees start from the bottom of the ladder, with a wage of $13 per hour. If successful, they can work their way up, sometimes all the way to the top, where they can make the big bucks.

If you’re thinking that it’s easy money, think again; the manager position in question is a far cry from dunking fries.

"These responsibilities include ensuring that quality, service, and cleanliness meet our high standards,” the company said in a statement to local Fox affiliate KTVU. “As leaders, they hire, train, and develop their team, and are responsible for creating and maintaining an enthusiastic and positive working environment."

Former managers at In-N-Out Burger rate their managerial experiences with an average 4.5 out of 5 stars on Indeed, though they acknowledge that the long hours and responsibilities are demanding.

So next time you find yourself in an existential crisis over following your passion and finding your dream job, remember that you might just be better off working at a burger joint.
