Worstebroodjes (Dutch Pigs in a Blanket)

Posted for ZWT6. An easier version of Dutch Pigs in a Blanket than the other one I posted (Saucijzebroodjes (Dutch Pig in a Blankets)). Adapted from Olive Navis in Cedar Grove, WI. Prep time does not include letting bread dough sit in fridge overnight and then standing at room temp for a while. Show more

Serves: 9

Ingredients

  • 1  loaf  frozen bread dough
  • 1 12 lbs  bratwursts or 1 12 lbs  other sausage
  •  butter for brushing  bread

Directions

  1. Put frozen dough in refrigerator overnight.
  2. Let stand at room temperature until pliable. Cut into nine slices.
  3. Divide meat into nine pieces and roll each into sausage shapes.
  4. Butter hands and stretch dough. Wrap dough around the meat.
  5. Place in greased pan about and inch apart.
  6. Cover and let rise until not quite doubled in size.
  7. Bake at 350F for 30 minutes. Butter the tops while still hot.
  8. Makes nine servings.
