Grandma's Bran Bread

A delicious bread, made from bran cereal. Wonderful on its own, or with a cup of tea. My husband loves it toasted! Show more

Yields: 2 loaves

Ingredients

  • 3  cups  sifted flour
  • 1  pinch salt
  • 1 12 cups sugar
  • 2 12 cups  all-bran cereal
  • 3  teaspoons baking powder
  • 7  tablespoons  Crisco
  • 4  eggs
  • 1  cup milk

Directions

  1. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Beat shortening and sugar until creamy.
  3. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Stir in bran cereal, then alternatively add milk and flour mixture.
  5. Turn into greased loaf pans and bake in pre-heated 350-degree oven for about 1 hour.
