Graham Cracker Cake

Ingredients
- 1⁄2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄4 cup flour
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 24 graham crackers, crushed
- 3⁄4 cup milk
- 1⁄2 cup nuts
- 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Directions
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat well.
- Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with graham cracker crumbs and milk.
- Add the nuts.
- Fold in egg whites.
- Divide and bake in 2 -8 inch wax paper lined round layer cake pans.
- Bake at 350 deg. for 25 minute.
- Cool.
- Use your favorite chocolate frosting in between layers and on top.
