Broccoli in Garlic Sauce

Not sure where I found this recipe, but it sounds simple and good.

  1. Break broccoli into florets, peel stems and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Bring 3/4 cup broth to boil in medium saucepan.
  3. Add broccoli stems, cover and cook until crisp-tender, 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup broth.
  5. Heat oil in wok or large skillet.
  6. Add ginger, onion and garlic and stir fry 1 minute.
  7. Add broccoli stems and florets and stir fry 2 minutes.
  8. Add oyster sauce, sugar and 1/2 cup broth and stir fry 2 minutes.
  9. For thicker sauce, stir in cornstarch dissolved in 2 teaspoons broth and cook briefly.
  10. Asparagus can be substituted for broccoli.
