Black-Eyed Pea and Corn Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 12 cups chicken broth
  • 1 12 cups  chopped onions
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black-eyed peas
  • 1 (14 ounce) can  cream-style corn
  • 2  teaspoons  minced garlic
  • 1  teaspoon  dried savory, leaves
  • 1  cup  coarsely chopped  roasted red pepper
  •  salt and pepper
  • 4  slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except peppers, salt, pepper and bacon in a crock pot.
  2. Cover and cook on high for 2-3 hours, adding roasted peppers during the last 15 minutes.
  3. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve topped with bacon.
