@Red headed Gramma
I grew up on a farm in North Dakota and learned to cook at a young age. My very first job was helping a neighbor cook the meals and care for the kids during the summer months while she went to the fields. I am a retired accountant, but still working on a contract basis. This allows time to cook and serve people at will. My husband and I managed 3 bed and breakfast facilities in VA and New Jersey for 7 years and thoroughly enjoyed those years, and of course, I was able to cook and create to my heart's content. The one location was remote and we also had to serve the evening meal. I enjoy cooking everything from ethnic to just plain comfort foods from my childhood. I have 5 children and 10 grandchildren and am delighted to see some of the older ones express interest in learning to cook also. I love to feed people! Everyone likes my biscuits, my chicken and noodles, my pot pies, and my chocolate cakes. I grow my own herbs and use and experiment with them at every opportunity, even for herbal ointments, etc. I have been collecting cookbooks since my early teens and have collection that fills 4 tall book cases, even after I have been liquidating many of them to friends and relatives (as I now have the internet and RecipeZaar!) My very favorites are all the Farm Journal cookbooks. I lost some of them in a house fire and I want to replace them, so I continue to search, so any leads are welcome.
