I'm amazed how people resort to fast foods and junk food and claim it to be cheaper! I keep the necessities on hand (pasta, dry beans, legumes, spices, stocks, frozen meats, potatoes, baking goods) and pick up fresh vegetables, fruits, and usually cheese weekly or bi-weekly. With a little bit of creativity and forethought I am able to whip up some fantastic little meals that are not only fabulously tasty but very cost effective. More and more I am finding myself interested in cooking and baking! Right when I was getting really into it, late 2007, I burned my entire right palm and fingers in kitchen accident. It definitely kind of cramped my style and increased my nerves in the kitchen. In March of this year I found myself finally in a situation where I was living roommate free! Since then my desire to cook has grown into somewhat of a passion. I am a huge fan of anything that uses fresh ingredients when possible - vegetables, fresh herbs and spices, and love making my own pizza doughs, baking from scratch, and avoiding any sort of pre-packaged food that can be easily made from scratch! I am becoming increasingly aware of what flavors work together and what spices complement each other! I feel like a nerd but I think I am asking for spices for Christmas this year! Or maybe I'll ask for a premium membership to Zaar? :)
