@Sheila Isenhour B.
I'm not sure why it says I joined in 2013 because I was a member of Recipezaar long before it was sold to food.com. I met some awfully fine chefs on that site and continue to use this one occasionally. I guess I had to re-join when I moved. Speaking of moving, I moved to Florida in 2013 from NC, where I lived most of my life. Some of the places I have lived, in addition to NC, that influenced my cooking and appreciation for great food are Chicago, South Carolina, Spain, and now Florida. I cannot really say much about Florida foods I've had so far, except really good Cuban Sandwiches. Most of what I see here are not regional in nature but come from somewhere else. Well, maybe Gator, which I haven't had the nerve to try yet. I'm retired from teaching Spanish to high school students. In a volunteer position, I am a bible studies coordinator for the Tampa area for Stonecroft (an International Christian ministry). I'm one of those people whose desire to do many things leaves me lacking mastery over any! I've collected recipes since I was 13, but only in the last few years have I created my own (I always thought I must follow someone else's recipes) and it's quite rewarding to create my own! I love watching Netflix and other networks on my Roku, especially shows like Vikings, The Last Kingdom, and others of that ilk. Love reading stories from the bible, love reading novels too. I enjoy the Florida sunshine, except when it's too hot to sit outside for long, like mid-summer (now). Another interest, Ancestry.com. Did the DNA matching and found some branches I didn't know about. It's addictive, like Facebook and collecting recipes, so I have to make sure I have time to spare before I venture there! Instead of filling out this form, I need to go buy paint to paint my sewing desk, which is partially disassembled so I can paint it. But here I am, avoiding starting while the room around me is in shambles! Have lined up my mise en place to start a pie, but changed my mind about the type of pumpkin pie I would make, also got things lined up for Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies. Which to do first? That's pretty much me. My hubby is out of town for a couple of weeks so I can cook and bake what I like without regard to whether it is his favorite but what am I doing? Searching on here for the perfect Chocolate Chess Pie because it is his favorite; we haven't found the ONE, the one like he remembers and that they serve at Golden Corral. If any of you fantastic chefs have Golden Coral's recipe, I'd love to have it. Otherwise, I guess I will work my way through the recipes listed here in between painting sewing desks, planting herbs, binge watching old TV series or British shows...doing ancestry stuff ...
